The Faculty of Perioperative Care (FPC) is pleased to have recently welcomed its first Member at a prestigious diploma ceremony at The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (RCSEd) on Friday 17 November 2017.

Mr John Stirling is the National Organ Retrieval Service Workforce Transformation Project Lead with NHS Blood and Transplant. At the ceremony, Mr Stirling joined surgeons and dentists from across the globe at the 500-year-old College to receive his Faculty Membership Diploma.

By becoming a Member of the Faculty of Perioperative Care, perioperative practitioners can avail of a wide range of professional and educational benefits to support their career, including discounts on courses and online resources, as well as use of the post-nominals MFPCEd.

Commenting on receiving the award, Mr Stirling said:

"I was delighted to have Membership of the Faculty of Perioperative Care conferred at the recent diploma ceremony. Having the opportunity to participate in the diploma ceremony, along with surgical colleagues from across the world, bears testament to the commitment that RCSEd has in supporting and developing perioperative practitioners as part of an evolving surgical community.

"I look forward to working with the Faculty and the RCSEd more widely to continue to develop training, education and support for surgical first assistants (SFAs), surgical care practitioners (SCPs) and a wide range of perioperative practitioners who undertake advanced roles in surgery. It is an honour to be the first MFPCEd and I am looking forward to working closely with the many colleagues who will follow and join the Faculty in the coming months and years.”
