The Faculty of Perioperative Care (FPC) is delighted to announce that Juliette Murray has begun her term as FPC Lead as of 17 October 2022.

Juliette follows Charlie Auld who has led the Faculty since its inception in 2016 and has been integral to its establishment and development. The FPC would like to take this opportunity to thank Charlie for his many contributions and commitment to the Faculty and its members.

Outgoing FPC Lead, Charlie Auld says,

It has been a rewarding experience starting the Faculty to support the various members of the extended surgical team. Hopefully, the courses, webinars and more recently the podcasts and of course the annual conferences we have run have been of educational benefit to our members.

“We will continue to work closely with our partners in education i.e., HEE and NES in addition to our colleagues at the Royal College of Surgeons of England to advance the role of the advanced practitioner in surgical practice.

“I am delighted to hand over the leadership of the Faculty to Juliette Murray who has already made a significant contribution to the Faculty and who will bring her experience of working with these members of the team and new ideas to drive the Faculty forwards."

As she starts her new role as FPC Lead, Juliette Murray says, “Charlie Auld has done so much work to establish the Faculty and get it to where it is today. He will be an extremely hard act to follow.”

Juliette will bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to the position; she is currently Associate Clinical Director at the Centre for Sustainable Delivery and Deputy Medical Director in NHS Forth Valley.

Previous roles include Deputy Director of Medical Education and Strategic Cancer Lead in NHS Lanarkshire where she had a significant role in teaching and training both medical staff and advanced practitioners.
